Rating: of 5 Stars!

The Beal Big Air Pad has a large landing area of 180cm x 100cm but it will roll up to a size that is easily carried around the crag. Beal have included the Verso foam concept in the pad, this means that there are 3 layers of foam, one 50mm thickness of absobtion foam in the middle which is sandwiched by a harder landing foam either side. The landing foam is 30mm thick on the top (coloured) side of the pad and 10mm thick on the under (black) side of the pad. This means that you can use the pad coloured side up when on high problems and then turn it over when working low or roof problems where you may not land on your feet and a softer landing would be benficial.

Beal Big Air Pad Details:

  • Triple density verso foam concept for varying problem heights
  • Reinforced corners
  • Straps can be removed and used as a shoulder strap
  • Side Vents
  • Weight - 7.4kg

Beal Big Air Pad Reviews

Agree with everything siad previously. I'd add that this pad although much bigger is lighter and easier to carry than my Alpkit Phud.

I forgot to mention (as i wrote the above review) that it has a loop which is handy for slinging gear on like shoes and chalk. The pad also has a soft and hard side, and can be used as a mattress for anyone with limited space while on bouldering / camping trips! It ialso doubles up as a great seat when it's folded which camouflages nicely into our living room :D

Ok so it's £190.. But it really is a beast of a pad. I've used mine at melloblocco for the last couple of years and it will cover the landing area for most problems. It folds and then bends so if the terrain is uneven you can find a way making it safe with this pad. The padded straps are comfy and the waist strap is a good extra that most pads like this don't have, especially when your hiking for a while. Overall: worth it!
