by Brian Hamilton Date Added: Sunday 01 April, 2012 Quite simply this is the fingerboard you will end up going to after you have tried everything else. Save yourself the hassle and just buy this as soon as you start taking training seriously. The wood is totally forgiving on your skin and tendons but not your muscles! The holds are pretty out there, the sloping monos, sloping shallow two finger pockets and the back two pockets are crazy. I have made good progress on this board and can now do a pull-up on the 45 degree slopers, a real watershed moment but when you do it you realise a lot of technique is involved, mainly doing a semi body lever and getting as much of your body behind the board as possible. I can't really compare this to other boards as it is in a league of its own, the most challenging and well designed board I have ever seen or used. Really, believe the hype and buy one. Buying a board is not a hard decision, just get this and your sorted. Get Beastified! To put this review into context i'd best explain what sort of climber i am - Im a boulderer mainly, I consistently doing font 7a/7a+ in a session. I have been climbing for approximately 8 years, I'm good at slopey stuff, but suck at crimpy stuff. I'd advise buying the 1000 first as to start with this felt hard as i had never done any training before. after around 3-4 months of using the 1000, i began to find that it was becoming easier, too easy, and i fancied a greater challenge. I sold my 1000 for £50 (lots of people want a beastmaker but think £70 is a lot for a bit of wood, allbeit a nice one!) then bought the 2000. The largest holds are enough to warm up on, I do a set on these to warm up, then do a harder set on a variety of more difficult holds, ten cool down with a set of holds that i find easier. Great board, great way to judge your progress, and see your strength improve speedily! Get one, but be careful! It's a must buy for anyone interested and hang it somewhere in you home that you walk past regulary! Even though it lacks jug holds I would advise buying the 2000 instead of the beastmaker 1000 as the flat edges are still large enough. the slopers & small pockets are fun to train on too. thanks guys!
