A true variable-friction device, the Black Diamond ATC-XP maintains the silky-smooth feeding of the ATC but ups the braking power. For belaying and rappelling with 7.7-11 mm ropes, it’s designed with a smooth, low-friction side and a high-friction side with v-shaped grooves for three times more friction. An extended central web keeps biners and ropes properly oriented and helps reduce kinking.

It's very good and has not broken yet the little grips at the front dose increases the friction. Mine is blue and matches my eyes.

v good belay. Pretty chunky and solid feeling as well as nice and shiny Is smooth and doesn't stick Would recommend

This is my first belay ive bought, and so far after trying a few others it is the best, the only problem is that it is not entirely smooth running, but for the price and the quality i would happily recommend this to others

This is a fairly good belaying device. It doesn't feed rope as smoothly as the Petzl Reverso 3, but it's very close and a lot cheaper. You can do abseiling with it, too, but you can't belay seconding climbers with it. It doesn't wear off, even if used a lot, and it doesn't get too hot either. It's got a very good value-for-money-ratio.
