The Black Diamond Gridlock is a new design of carabiner for belaying, it has a smaller section at the bottom for your belay loop which keeps the biner in the proper orientation. This simple and easy to use system helps to eliminate any cross loading and the large rounded rope surface ensures maximum strength.

Pretty cool bit of gear, smaller and lighter than i expected its smaller than most carabiners i have used for belaying but the design to stop side loading is perfect and its way better to use. its a bit of a fiddle to get on when you first get it and a if you have a hugely thick belay loop may be pretty annoying.. but you get used to it and i don't even notice putting it on now and look and (evil) laugh when i see other climbers adjusting a side loaded belay device...

Since i bought this carabainer it's all i use for belaying , it does it's job perfectly . It never gets into a cross-loaded position , so after a buddy check all my attention goes to belaying . One less thing to worry about , so why wouldn't you ...

A very simple effective piece of kit. I initially thought it was a bit of an over-kill, but after some use at venues ranging from climbing Walls to the alps I am converted! It leaves you less to think about when belaying which in turn increases efficiency and safety.
