The Edelrid Typhoon is a shoe which will excel in sport climbing and bouldering, it has been built on a downturned last with a heel strap which transfers power into the toe box to keep your feet firmly on the rock. The E-Grip sole has been redesigned to allow for greater sensitivity whilst retaining superb edging capabilities. A combination of soft natural leather at the rear of the shoe and a Lorica synthetic leather in the toe box means that a comfortable fit acheived with a performance that wont deteriorate over time. There is also a neoprene tongue and opposing velcro pull straps to ensure a tight, accurate fit.

Very good technical shoe, a little sore but fits well. Has definitely helped my bouldering as I feel much more secure with my toe placements compared to my last (less technical) shoes.

Decided to switch from Evolv and Chili shoes to these after a friend of mine suggested the typhoons due to the hard wearing rubber (his typhoons have lasted a year of constant climbing where I've toe-boxed two pairs of Evolv and chili's) - I went for a size 8.5 in these after using the Banana Fingers size calculator *I'm a 9 in street shoes*, definitely the right choice !, the Typhoons fit like a glove with absolutely zero dead space. I have noticed the rubber feels stiffer and seems less sticky than other shoes Ive climbed in but this made no difference once I got used to the feeling of the harder rubber. Definitely recommended :-)

A well priced shoe with good, fairly stiff rubber. The toebox is snug and the slingshot heel holds well. There is a little deadspace around ankle and I feel that the shoe is cut a little too low in this area. However these are minor concerns in what is overall, an excellent value all-rounder.

Being a long term katana wearer, and having experimented with more expensive "technical" shoes (miuras), I bought the Typhoons when I needed a new pair of shoes for a trip and didn't have time to get to a shop to buy a pair. And it's a decision I've not regretted! While the rubber may not feel quite as sticky as 5.10's finest, the fit and performance is great for an intermediate level climber looking for something a bit more aggressive for bouldering and sport but not looking for the hefty price that normally entails. I've got myself a 2nd pair now (lost the first pair!). I've used it indoors and out, bouldering, sport and trad and have had no complaints! I'll probably be back for a new pair when these wear through, though they're seeming perfectly durable and long lasting at the moment. Overall, a great all rounder at a reasonable price!

Beautiful shoes. Sticky rubber. It is designed as a sock, like Solution. It has a roomy heel box but wont be too loose when heel hooking. And the part at ankle is low that wont scratch my ankle. The sole is quite stiff and need time for breaking-in. My street shoe size is 46, 42.5 for gallileo, 44 for this shoes. And i want to say thank you to bananafingers as i only a wrong size and return this shoe for exchange. BF make a quick reply and send a new pairs to me.

Similar to scarpa boosters and rockettes. E-grip rubber is just like vibram xs edge. The green band thing does work and with the two piece sole gives a solid heel fit and really pronounced downturn, so is solid for hooking and is great on roofs and overhangs. Slight gripe is the small coverage of the toe rand, so you have to be precise with toe hooking. 1 UK size down for a comfy fit for routes or training. 1 1/2 for a solid toe crunching technical fit.

Beautiful shoes! Looking as well as fit and excellent quality! I went a full size down from my street shoes (got a uk9) as I like mine snug. Also like to give a shout out to Tom from BF who got back to me asap about the sizing, cheers dude! Aiden.
