Evolv Bandit Reviews £71.45
by Tim Hardy Date Added: Friday 25 November, 2011
I've been looking for snug shoe that doesn't cripple my feet after half an hour of wearing them. Brought them in an 8+1/2 which is my street size and they fit perfect. I've finally found a shoe that's right for me.

A fantastic all round shoe. The bandit provides a close fit which when combined with it's sticky rubber sole facilitates precise foot placements. The snug heel and extended toe rand allow toe and heel hooks without compromising the comfort. These shoes a a brilliant all day shoe or drop half a size and boulder into the v9s without a worry.

Had to go for the same size as my Trainers for a good fit as going down a size initally was to small, but had not problem getting them swapped with BF. I've only really been using them for Bouldering but they do the job well. Ideal Begineers climbing shoe.

I wear size 7 trainers, I went for the same in the Bandits and the fit is great. I can wear them for quite a while but for me they're not for all day wear. The lacing system is excellent and loosen up much better than the fiddly Boreal Aces I owned before, giving the precise fit of the laces but easy to get on and off. The toe box is fantastic, quite precise considering they're not so aggressive, and performs well on micro-holds, for edging and toe-hooks. The heel is snug but the rubber on the heel is quite thin so heel hooks aren't the most comfortable for me. The rubber is nice and grippy enabling confident smearing. As other reviewers have also noted, the lining and the padded tongue mean that these shoes get rather sweaty build up quite a funk quite quickly (although this seems to be an occupational hazard for climbers). For the price, an excellent all-rounder for beginners and intermediate climbers, or just a comfortable all-rounder to have in the bag. Comes with a fetching go-faster stripe making you look awesomely cool which is of course, what climbing is all about.

Don't trust any sizing services! My first evolve experience was a drama. I wear 42 EU Nike and went for a 7.5 UK Pontas. A slipper. After that I tried again with a 7 UK Bandit. I must confess That the first impression was again a loose fit. I gave them 10 tries, and they molded to my feet , and are now the top pair. High sensitivity on the rock, unbelievable grip and perfect fit. Ideal in vertical climbing with a strong midsole that allows you to exploit micro-edges. WARNING: the synth upper can limit the breathability in case of significant sweating, giving a bad slippery sensation (I use them under 20 °C cca). For an 8 UK gym shoe size i suggest a 7 Uk for a comfortable but effective fit, and a 6.5 if one needs to feel that well known tip toe pain for a top performance.
