Evolv Pontas

Evolv

In Stock Average Customer Rating:

The Evolv Pontas is the world's 1st Chris Sharma signature model climbing shoe. The shoe is named after "Es Pontas", a wildly overhanging deep water solo project of Chris' in Mallorca.

The Pontas is an all-round high performance shoe that fuses precision, power, and responsiveness in an excellent glove-like fit. The heel fits securely from base of the heel to the achilles without discomfort and deadspace. It has been equipped with an extended toe rand that is functional for toe-hooking without feeling excessive. It has tri-grooves which relieve pressure on the big toe. The 3/4 length semi stiff midsole provides the ideal balance of edging power and responsiveness from toe through the arch.

The Evolv Pontas will inspire confidence on technical climbs with micro-edges, where precise footwork is required.

The Pontas is of course equipped with Evolv's Trax rubber.

"TRAX rubber has the perfect blend of stickiness and durability for extreme climbing of all types. Whether I am on a granite slab or on an overhanging limestone sport route, I have total confidence in every foot placement with TRAX rubber." Chris Sharma

Evolv Pontas Reviews

Really comfortable shoe. The TRAX rubber is different to any previous rock shoes of mine (scarpa, five-ten) where the rubber is a lot harder and less giving. The TRAX rubber is really durable, consequently brilliant for more slabby faces 'gritstone balancy, agile climbing in mind'. However the design of the shoe counts for a lot it's near-down turned toe and the degree of arc the shoe is shaped in can support steep sport climbing. (After all they are named after an overhanging arched climb) On a personal level, they seemed to fit the shape of my foot really well, and suit my climbing style. I favoured the velcro straps and they still really stick together despite a lot of weathering and use. Unfortunately I bought these in the wrong size (11) I wear size 11 street shoe. If I were to buy these again I would purchase size 10. The only other thing I would mention is if you’re a less experienced climber, place your feet well on footholds in these or the durability of the rubber will enable rounded edges to occur quicker. If you place your feet well, the Pontas keep a good edge and perform very well! Good rubber, good shoe!

The first time I wore this shoe I couldn't believe how well it performed, no messing around straight out of the box it was ready to go. I wear size 7.5 pontas (possibly the most popular size) and swear by them. They are good for all angles of rock and perform extremely well on gritstone. I have owned 3 pairs now and can't get enough! I highly recommend this very well designed shoe.
