Exped is the first manufacturer worldwide to incorporate FlatValve technology into their selfinflating mats. Once you have unrolled your mat you will find two flat valves at the foot end. To inflate your mat you simply have to open the valve labelled 'inflate' and bide your time. You will soon find that the mat has expanded without a foot pump or any other effort. Sometimes you may find that you wish to add a couple of breaths of air to ensure maximum comfort. The Exped SIM Comfort 7.5 DLX is made of resilient polyester tricot fabric, which is both soft and resilient. To ensure their mats have good durability Exped have used a laminated airblock film of PU-Ether. This is completely hydrolysis resistant ...which apparently means that your mat will remain leakproof even if humidity accumulates during inflation. The DLX models (which stands for Deluxe if you hadn't guessed) have velcro strips on the side streams which allows you to connect mats together to form a double bed. You may be wondering what kind of magic Exped have used to make these mats inflate all by themselves. Basically the interior of the mat has a foam honeycomb structure which is compressed when the mat is packed away. When you open the inflate valve this allows air to enter the mat, which allows the foam to expand to its natural shape. As far as we are aware Paul Daniels was not involved in the design process.
