Rating: of 5 Stars!

The Five Ten Daescent designed as a lightweight, casual off-road shoe, the Dæscent pushes the envelope of technology by utilizing Stealth Mystique™ rubber compound and a new manufacturing process that extends the sole into a thin toe and rand wrap to protect the forefoot. The new ultra-lightweight shoe has a dual-density EVA midsole and synthetic, micro-fiber mesh upper that is exceptionally durable and quick-drying, with plenty of breathability for hot days on the trail.

If you are buying these shoes to replace your current set of sneakers we would recommend buying them a size bigger than your normal street size. This will give a comfortable, everyday fit. If you are planning on using them for climbing you might want to go with your street size. This will give a fit that is more like a climbing shoe.

Five Ten Daescent Reviews

Submited By: Liam Lonsdale on 24/11/2010
I bought this shoe as an appraoch shoe for a sport trip to El Chorro, Spain as well as trainer for 'knocking about in'. The shoe worked well, until the ground got wet ... if you fancy yourself as an aspiring Torville/Dean then slide away. When worn they don't hold the same shape as the picture shows (not on me anyway), they've got a more loafer style fit, being very flat rather than the raised element of a trainer. Jeans tend to flop over them rather than shoe them off. I usually wear a size 8.5 trainer and bought them in this size, they were fine. I couldget away with an 8 but with a thick sock it'd be pushing it. Good shoe for dry conditions, with short approaches, or down the pub if that floats your boat.

I bought the Daescents more as a replacement for my current pair of sneakers than as a climbing shoe. I found that I had to buy them a full size bigger than my street size in order to get a comfortable everyday fit. The front half of the sole is slick like a climbing shoe, and so they work well for warming up on a boulder. The back half of the sole has indented rubber to give you some grip when walking to and from boulders. Like most Five Ten shoes, they look sweet, however they are robust too. I've worn mine practically every day for the last 8 months and they are still in very good condition.
