The La Sportiva Katana is a technical shoe with an innovative closure, consisting of two Velcro straps with differentiated and opposite pull direction. Ideal for multi-purpose use in the mountains, crags and bouldering. The successful combination of synthetic and natural materials provides the best compromise between comfort, technical performance and inalterability in the long run. A special midsole with prehensile area under the toe provides optimal edging support, increasing sensitivity.

A good high performance shoe. I wear these in a 38.5 (uk 5 1/2) one size down from miuras as katanas open right up, which makes them a bit more of a wider shoe. After you break them in, they are highly sensitive and a bit softer than miuras! Good for small edges if you wear them tight, as you get alot of feedback from the toe! Very good for smearing, as also easy and quick to put on! highly recommended. Very good for heelhooks (sticky heel) which i can't often say about velcro or slip on shoes!

I have been climbing for around 6years and wanted to upgrade my shoes to match an upgrade in experience. These shoes tick most of the boxes for me. They are light and flexible whilst retaining enough shape to edge remarkably well. They provide feedback to allow me to make the most of my footing and give me the confidence to concentrate more on other things rather than whether my feet will pop off. Unlike most high end climbing shoes these don't hurt after a couple of hours use and after having a pair of Pyros I can say that with some confidence. The only thing I would say was dissapointing would be the velcro straps. They are rather long and I tend to catch them on ropes quite a bit. But other than that, a very good shoe with sticky rubber that does its job. And does it well.
