The Pod Alpine 40 is made from durable, lighweight materials to ensure that it can deal with a battering both from the weather and normal physical stresses without holding you back. The body is made from 210D Cordura Ripstop Nylon, whereas the base is composed of 420D Ballistic Cordura Nylon. The Alpine 40 is available in two different sizes. Size A is designed to fit most females in addition to smaller men, whereas the size B is aimed at average to large males. The size B rucksack weighs 1.55kg, however it can be stripped down such that it weighs just 0.8kg. The lid of this rucksack contains both internal and external stash pockets. However, if these are deemed unnecessary the whole lid can easily be stripped off the rucksack to save weight. This will not impair the weather resistant properties of the Alpine 40 because the main pack has a secure roll top closure. The all weather credentials of this pack are boosted further by triple stitched and bound seams. To ensure the Alpine 40 remains both comfortable and lightweight in harsh environments the foam back panel has been designed to shed snow and repel water. The pack has a removable internal framesheet and alloy stave for support. It also has a comfortable load bearing hip belt. Other useful features of the Pod Alpine 40 include gear loops located on the hip belt, an ice axe (or alternatively walking pole / ski pole) carrying system, external ultra-tough leno mesh pockets, a rope carrying loop, front and rear haul loops and an internal pocket and hose outlet for easy hydration.
