The Tendon Smart 10.0mm has been released onto the market as an entry level rope but has uses far beyond that of a beginner. The mid-range diameter of the Smart means that it will handle well through your belays but wont weigh you down too much. Unlike most other price point ropes the Tendon Smart 10.0 has a light external treatment to offer some degree of water and abrasion resistance as well as a handy half way marker.

Got this rope two months ago and after climbing on it for two months on average once a week it is a bit spongy in places and the sheath is fraying a bit. I expected it to hold up better. My last 30m Mammut rope held up for a year. i've used this rope pretty much every week since i got it and so far so good. it's been used in the rain while leading climbs in chedder and for sport routes indoors and it's been brilliant. good price as it was my first rope and relativly lightwieght. only thing i found, although this applies with most ropes, for the first 3 or 4 uses it does kink itself a lot but after a couple of climbs on full length walls it soon sorts itself out. excellent buy :D

As the proud owner of a 60m Tendon Smart, I have found this rope to perform far above and beyond expectation to the status of bombproof. I have been climbing on it for an intense 6 months, subjecting it to the abuse only a novice climber can provide: Grade pushing, knot work, 10ft practice falls, sea cliff climbing, 20ft “practice” falls, running over granite edges, extensive submersion in seawater, Norwegian glacier walks, storage in a cold damp shed, drinking games, a washing line, car towing and of course a pillow. The only damage it has incurred during this appalling mistreatment is the yellow tag at the end of the rope fell off (the granite edge lead to a granite crack). As a first rope I can think of no better choice!
