Ohm

P5285Z
(4)
$110.18

The Edelrid Ohm acts to increase rope friction between a belayer and the lead climber. This means that a far lighter belayer can hold a fall from a heavier leader without difficulty. Rather than explaining how it works in words you are probably better off watching the video below.

- Weight: 360g
- For use with ropes between 8.6 and 11mm

Vital piece for me

I'm a very heavy climber, and as such it is next to impossible to find the right belayer for me . I never lead climb without my Ohm. It gives me the confidence and piece of mind that my belayer would be able to catch my fall no matter how light they are compared to me.

I never lead climb without it

This thing is the single best piece of equipment ever designed for people who are heavy. I weigh 105kg while everyone else in my group are less than 75kg, so it is really difficult for me to find a belayer who is willing to let me lead climb. The Edelrid Ohm gives me a peace of mind that my belayer won't have any troubles catching me as well as not having him fly a few meters up in the air.

Fantastic bit of kit. Works really well at controlling falls and lower offs. It doesn’t grab/kick in on the initial fall, so an initial soft catch is still possible, it just takes a lot of the after effects out of the equation (belayer being dragged up the wall).
