BD ATC is the belay device that an instructor i know swears by, yet this is better. Much more fluid. The ATC jams and snatches on thick and fluffy indoor ropes. If that is given 5 stars, you need a 6 star rating introduced for this.

I really don't understand the last reviewer. The Bug is excellent for all ropes in it's stated range. Trad use with genesis doubles - it's excellent. Even feels safe with pheonix's (not new or super-slippy). It's great with my single 9.8. Whereas other tube devices i've used all grab and jam with particularly fluffy or thick wall ropes, this bug has never jammed on me indoors.
You're missing out if you underestimate the benefits of simplicity and a well working tube device. This one anyway.
Bug (general use),
Verso (thin sport ropes and slick 8.0mm doubles and beginner users),
Reverso (guide mode ring, though unless you're using it, just gets in the way), Gri-Gri (sport, guide rope).
I think every keen climber should have one of each in their collection. But if i could only have one of them, it would be the Bug. Simplicity. Better feel and control. Fluid on abseil. Light, but not so light as to heat up too much (mantis). And no silly gaps (wild country Pro Lite) that make clothing jam risks triple.
