Friction Labs Chalk is a company which takes friction seriously. They have developed a blend of chalk which has a higher proportion of Magnesium Carbonate and lower levels of Calcium Carbonate. This means that your hands feel drier and have more grip for longer periods of time and have less of the slimy feeling which can occur where Calcium Carbonate more present. This also means you wont have to dip into your chalk bag so frequently, making up for the premium price tag of the product.

Friction Labs Chalk is available in 3 different textures, Bam Bam which is super chunky, Gorilla Grip which is a bit chunky and Unicorn Dust which is the finest. It also comes in 5 different bag sizes.

This chalk is getting quite a reputation already and many are claiming quite a marked improvement on their current chalk provider. We have even heard rumors of people now using 2 chalk bags, one used for training/working routes with standard chalk in it and one for send attempts containing Friction Labs.

Before I got some FL chalk, I thought chalk was just chalk. I got both Unicorn Dust and Gorilla Grip because I couldn't decide between the two sizes. It turns out that a mix of the two is amazing. This chalk dries out my hands better than other chalks I've tried, and adds an almost rubber-like feel to my hands. I feel like I don't have to use as much chalk when it is FL chalk. The only problem is the slightly higher price, but for quality, I am personally prepared to pay for it.

If chalk has ever felt like rubber for your hands, it does so from Friction Labs. Fantastic stuff, having tried all the varieties personal preference is a combination of Unicorn Dust and Bam Bam. Nice and soft, but with chunks to really rub into awkward skin patches under the knuckles.

Bought alongside MoonDust and Snap Chalk is my Dope, this stuff feels better on and seems to last longer too.

Let's be honest, 100% Magnesium Carbonate is 100% Magnesium Carbonate, but I will still buy this again instead of other brands.

Real Talk!

My Personal Opinion is that this Chalk 'Friciton Lab' is fantastic, it is super dry and i know that for myself I don't chalk up as much when using this chalk for bouldering and route climbing. Using other chalks for example Metolias, DMM, Chalk Ball and Rock Technology i constantly chalk up every so often. This is a great chalk to use.

Some of my friends and other reviewers say other wise. my friends who borrowed some of my chalk couldn't tell if it does keep your hand dryer then the conventional Metolias and DMM. However! They haven't tried a variety off different chalk brands, so they didn't understand the texture, feel and performance of the chalk.

If You know your chalk types and tried many different types then you will love this chalk! Only bummer is that it is Expensive but its just the Import price added from USA. Last time i checked a regular batch in the USA is like $3 add the import for shipping add $10!

So what i'm trying to get at is that if you can tell the difference if chalks your using now, this chalk is far better.
If you aren't bothered about chalk then save your cash!

This chalk is expensive, I'll say that upfront because it is the most obvious point. However, i do believe whole-heartedly that the companies claims are 100% true. The chalk I bought has lasted much longer than I would've expected as much less is needed to dry your hands. The magnesium carbonate it contains also claims to be better for real rocks than chalks with a greater calcium carbonate content. While the difference between this chalk and regular chalk is subtle it is significant in crucial comp situations and when you absolutely have to send your project. Although the cost is great, the product is perfect: it's up to you to determine whether you are willing to pay for the benefits.

Never again! this stuff works as regular chalk, don't understand the idea of whole science behind it but I think it is more hygroscopic that standard one which is bad when you boulder outdoor.
