Andy Kirkpatrick is one of the funniest of Britain’s top climbers and represents what is best in modern climbing: boldness, innovation, sense of humour, commitment, and an appetite for risk. The author has climbed some of the hardest routes in the Alps and has mountaineered around the world, including Patagonia in winter - here he has written a challenging autobiography, the centrepiece of which is his famed thirteen-day solo ascent of Reticent Wall on El Capitan in Yosemite.

Didnt buy it from BF but I was here looking for gear. But I must say this book is absolutely brilliant.

Andy K delievers a lot of humour and self-awareness in the midst of well portrayed climbs and brutal honesty. Half of the chapters is an autobiography and the other half is record of a solo-ascent of one of the worlds largest and most severe Big Walls climbs. Especially memorable is the chapter when he is trying to urinate discretly with a separate climbing team pushing up under him.

Higly recommended.
