The Andrea Boldrini Spider is a great performer at an awesome price. It combines precision, grip and power with a really high comfort level which is hard for other shoes to match.

The Spider uses both an elasticated closure and velcro strap to ensure a solid, snug fit as well as quick on, offs. They are a technical shoe and can be used for any style of climbing from multipitch routes to hard bouldering. The upper is 100% microfibre for limited stretch over time and the dual finger loops on the heel make entry as easy as possible. The slightly downturned profile make for a bit of 'pull' when on the steep stuff and the Formula rubber sole ensures foot placements stay where they should.

Details:

- High levels of comfort
- Dual closure
- Two heel tabs
- 4mm Formula rubber
- Integral Sole
- Microfibre upper
- Slight down turn

How I choose the correct size?

All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.

Choose from the options below to find your size in the Andrea Boldrini Spider
Climbing Shoe
or
Street Shoe

This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.

I'm usually a die-hard Sportiva fan, but I wanted something reasonably priced for training indoors so I got a pair of these on offer.
I followed the Bananafingers size guide based on what size Miura I wear, and the shoes fit absolutely perfectly, a little uncomfortable for a couple of sessions but they broke in beautifully.
I can't really fault the shoe's performance, aside from being a touch slippy at first due I guess to the brand new rubber, they have been great. The heel is surprisingly good for a single strap Velcro shoe, the cut around the ankle is good for avoiding blisters, the top of the toe box is forgiving so you can bunch your toes up without tearing all the skin off the knuckles.
The shoe gives a good feel through the toe without feeling excessively floppy or thin, and the good fit and light weight means you barely notice you are wearing them.

In fact I liked these so much that I chose to wear them rather than Miuras to successfully redpoint my recent hardest outdoor project, that may have skewed my opinion of them a little but I can't deny that they did perform faultlessly outdoors, as they have indoors.

My only possible gripe is that the asymmetric tongue bunches at the base and you can't pull it flat without stressing the stitching, this might cause a tear in future but it's ok after 2-3 months of use.
