How I choose the correct size?

All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.

Choose from the options below to find your size in the Boreal Joker
Climbing Shoe
or
Street Shoe

This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.

Customer questions

Q

Hi, my foot size is 9 (wear 9.5/10s in approach / boots). Got a narrow heel and fairly wide foot - would these fit the bill for my feet and if so what size do you recommend? Or is there a better shoe? Thanks

A

If this is your first pair of climbing shoes then the Joker is a very good choice. It provides a comfortable fit for most foot types. I would recommend wearing these either in your street size or half a size down. Two possible alternatives would be the Evolv Defy and the Andrea Boldrini Spider.

Mr

Buying these shoes for indoor bouldering was an excellent choice for my first 6 months climbing. Only issue is heal-hooking and toe-hooking (not a problem for beginner grades in the gym) lasted for longer than my friends other beginner shoes. Very happy with how comfortable they are from the get go.

I bought these shoes needing something comfortable and suitable for going on a climbing expedition as a beginner. They were recommended to me, and they were definitely worth the money! Because I wanted a shoe that was more comfortable, I went half a size bigger and got a 6.5 instead of a 6, but for more comfort you could even got up a whole size. Overall a great buy and great beginner climbing shoe that has a technical element to its fit aswell.

Having got back into climbing recently these were my first climbing shoes in a while and I haven't been disappointed. They are known for being beginner shoes and have been very comfy from the beginning, I have worn them both indoors and outdoors and have been able to wear them for long periods of time. They are a great climbing shoe, the service and delivery was excellent and the prices are treat compared to some sites I've seen.

Having used these on an indoor wall for a few weeks I'm very pleased. I bought them for comfort rather than high performance. I have a wide foot with a narrow heel, and the shoes seem to accomodate this okay. The heel is more vertical than other shoes I've tried. Also the shape of the toe is moderately asymmetric.

New to climbing so wasn't too sure what type of shoes to go for or just how uncomfortable they were supposed to be!) Read lots of reviews on the site and ordered a few pairs to try and finally found the ones! Banana Fingers gave top service on all my orders and I can say that these Boreal Jokers are beautiful. Didn't want to go too small in size being a newbie and the great thing with the laces is that I can tighten as they stretch for longer life. Will eventually replace them with smaller size and will get the same shoe again. BTW ordered in my street shoe size because I have terrible feet with bunions and dead toe nails from running. Shoes are wide enough to accommodate my misshapen feet. Much better than ladies shoes which are too narrow and low on the heels. Great shoes at great prices and excellent service! Will shop Banana Fingers again!
