Lynx

P1383Z14016
(18)
$96.74
$143.55

The Boreal Lynx sits in the company's range of high performance climbing shoes.

The Lynx has a stiff midsole which will probably give it the 'edge' (see what i did there) in certain situations. Due to this it has become a shoe favoured for limestone or edging routes, in fact Ben Moons ascent of Rainshadow (9a) was done in a pair. The stiffness also allows you to use them for longer periods without fatigue in your feet so they are also great for long multi-pitches.

They use the super sticky Zenith rubber. For an insight into just how sticky this stuff is click on the video below this description.

Another nice feature is the new V2 Rand. Boreal have introduced a rubber strip between the upper heel and midsole which pulls the heel inwards resulting in a snugger fit.

The Lynx is a precise shoe with great versatility on both sport and trad climbs.

  • High quality Split leather with superadjustable
    nylon tape lacing system.
  • Integrated padded mesh tongue for comfort.

Just how sticky is Zenith rubber?

How I choose the correct size?

All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.

Choose from the options below to find your size in the Boreal Lynx
Climbing Shoe
or
Street Shoe

This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.

Customer questions

Q

Hi
I am wondering if there is much stretch in the Lynx over time? They are leather construction, but all the reviews I have read have said they are very small fitting for there size but don't say anything bout whether they stretch or not. I am street size UK9/EU43 and I was thinking of buying the Lynx size UK8/EU42 as everything I have read says not to down size too much. Can you shed some more light on the size / fit of the Lynx? And do you know if there is much stretch over time?
Thanks
Lloyd

A

I would not recommend downsizing any more than a size because as you thought the Lynx is a very tight fitting shoe. You might want to try only downsizing half a size unless you are very used to wearing tight shoes. These shoes do have an unlined leather upper and so you should expect a bit of stretching.

The shoes are great so far They're more asymmetric than I'm used to but are proving well-rounded and perform well on a variety of routes.

It's best to be aware that the shoes fit really tightly! I had to get a size larger than my last pair for a similar fit, but now that the shoes are wearing in I'd happily recommend them.

Also, as a side note, Bananafingers were great when I had to change for a larger size- thanks!

Great all-rounder, as previously stated. Nice edging abilities, I found they sized very tightly, nice and snug. Don't go much more than half a size from street shoe, in fact street size might just suffice. Nice laces that go fairly close to the toe but don't impede toe hooking ability. I found the heel a bit shallow, still snug and tight, but I felt more of my heel / ankle was exposed than other shoes. Again, doesn't impact on its performance. Rubber is superb; I bought these for circuit room training as not to wear through my Genius's (another fantastic shoe, more bouldering orientated), and for vert climbs - can't go wrong! Better than my pink anasazis, more well rounded than my instinct VS.

I bought these shoes to replace my worn out Anasazi pinks and I've been really pleased with them so far. Like the Pinks they're great all-rounders and I find them perfect for hard trad.

I used the find the heel fit on Boreal shoes a bit wide for my feet but the heel on the new Lynx is really snug.

Overall - great shoes if you're looking for a something versatile and not too painful.

Good shoe. Precise solid sole and good for edging. Deliberately Bought very small so can't really comment on the smearing. Good heal that doesn't slip around.
