Bandit SC

The Evolv Bandit SC is the hip younger brother of the original Bandit Lace. With similar styling, sizing and performance it is easy to see that the two are related. If you loved the original Bandit but prefer not to faff about with laces then stay on this page.

An increasingly common feature among velcro shoes is the 3 strap closure. Whereas it might not be quite as secure as laces it does allow you to get a snug fit right down the length of the shoe. A good secure closure mechanism is needed to minimise 'bagging' particularly if you have low volume feet. Combine the velcro snaps with a well-designed heel and you have a good comfortable and very useable pair of shoes.

The Bandit SC has a dual layer synthetic upper that enables a comfortable fit, but also provides some protection if you end up needing to jam your foot in a crack. Whereas this is probably not an everyday occurence for most of us, it is nice to know.

We would describe the Bandit SC as a medium stiffness shoe. Not as stiff as something like a Five Ten Galileo, but certainly with more rigidity than most of the down cambered shoes on this site. It sits happily in the middle ground; making it a great choice if you want a single pair of good all-rounders to help you get your kicks.

Profile: Asymmetrical (KA-1 last)
Upper:Synthetic (non-stretch Synthratek upper)
Lining:Microfiber (balance of comfort and performance)
Closure System:3 opposing hook and loop straps
Midsole:MX-P: 1.5mm full-length
Sole:4.2mm TRAX® XT-5 high friction rubber
Rand:2.2 mm TRAX® duro-rand
Weight:9.1 oz ½ pair size 9

How I choose the correct size?

All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.

Choose from the options below to find your size in the Evolv Bandit SC
Climbing Shoe
or
Street Shoe

This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.

really comfortable shoe, great smearing rubber not the best edger but a good all rounder.

i had the miura lace before this which were more aggressive but i wanted a all day trad shoe which would serve in the gym on harder routes

I find the performance and shoe in general very similar to Anasazi Velcros, but with a slightly more relaxed heel shape (arguably more comfortable though probably with a slight sacrifice in power) and a cheaper price. What's not to like. Think these are a great all rounder I use these for most things (indoor, trad, bouldering and sport), only occasionally breaking out dragons/similar for particularly steep ground. Also not the best for toe hooking, but don't think that could be changed without altering the feel of the shoe.

Feel great so far, but for me had to order one full size larger than street shoe! This shoe does not stretch so I would advise going at least +0.5 larger than your last climbing shoe initially. On the positive side, Banana Fingers changed my size 4x without fuss and very quickly so excellent service from them!

My son loves these boots and has had 4 pairs now in 18 months My only concern was the durability of the rubber, but when I actually considered how much climbing he was doing, they were doing as well as anything else. The one pair we had that went the through the toe in a couple of weeks, Evolv's customer care people quickly and kindly replaced. That particular pair were not bought through BF.
