How I choose the correct size?

All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.

Choose from the options below to find your size in the Evolv Rockstar
Climbing Shoe
or
Street Shoe

This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.

Customer questions

Q

I have never bought climbing shoes before and I am not sure what size I should get. My feet are narrow and a size 4 (UK). Should I get a size 3.5 (UK), soak them and wear them in?

A

For a first pair of shoes I would suggest buying them in your trainer size (4). You may find that you can go tighter ...however it is really a matter of personal preference. Tight shoes are usually of less benefit to beginners than to more experienced climbers. No need to soak them. After a few climbs you should find they become a bit more supple and comfortable.

Excellent shoe all round. Use them for everything; trad, sport, bouldering, multi pitching and at the wall.

These are the second pair of these I've had. I wear a 7/7.5 in street shoes. The first pair I bought were a size 6 which initially were the right fit but they do stretch. My current ones are a size 5.5 and were painful at first but worth it once they were stretched in as they become a perfect fit. I have a very low arch in my foot and slightly wide feet and they fit me great.

I've had a couple of pairs of these. I'm a 4/4.5 in normal shoes and I wear a 3.5 in these for all round climbing. I found that they bagged out a lot, and they're at the point now where they'll quite easily slip off my feet, so they're no good for heel hooks and micro edges now. its about time i had a new pair, though and they were great before they got old. Really supportive, a really good fit, lots of rubber at the toe, a really solid edge. They have taken quite a lot of use this year. I've probably been using them about 7 months fairly consistently at 3 times a week, indoors and outdoors. I would definitely reccommend them, but wish I'd got a slightly smaller size, even though they were incredibly uncomfortable when I first put them on!

After trying on many many pairs, I decided these were the best shoes for me. Although my first pair, I have been wearing them for about 3 months now and am very pleased with them. The laces are good as they give a tight fit; overall they are more solid than other shoes I tried (usually those with velcro) with quite a thick sole, especially near the toe - which is good for support but means you sometimes can't feel as much (like very small edges). They are comfortable enough to wear for around an hour, but my feet need to take a break for a while after that.

One thing I would say (that other people have commented about these shoes) is the amount they smell. Yes, I know it is my own sweat that makes them smell, but I think the material is particularly bad for harvesting foot odour. Regardless, I would definitely recommend to others.
