If you are used to the old Moccasym when it was manifactured in the US then we suggest going a whole size up for the same fit

The Five Ten Moccasym is a proven classic with over 20 years in the market. The Moccasym provides performance with a slightly asymmetric shape and C4 rubber but also comfort with a leather upper. It is a favourite with boulderers (a great gym training shoe) but is also popular for long routes where you dont want to find your toes in pain half way up. The use of leather for the upper does mean that these will stretch up to one full size over time, moulding to your feet and becoming more supple.

Details:

  • Stealth® C4™ rubber outsole (2mm)
  • Unlined leather upper – Full-size stretch
  • Elastic closure system
  • Asym™ slingshot
  • Highly versatile
  • Higher heel tension
  • Stiffness – Soft

Suited to:

  • Trainig sessions
  • Long routes
  • Relaxed footwork
  • Smeary boulders

How I choose the correct size?

All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.

Choose from the options below to find your size in the Five-Ten Five Ten Moccasym
Climbing Shoe
or
Street Shoe

This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.

Customer questions

Q

Hi there. I'm wondering about the sizing of the Five Ten Moccasym. My feet an oddly sized in that my right foot would be an 8.5 whereas my left is an 8. I currently have a pair of La Sportiva Miura VS shoes in size 7 (40.5) but they're just killing my toes, hence I'm considering the Moccasym for something a lot more comfortable. I mainly boulder indoors once a week or so and I want something that will give similar performance to the Miura but without the pain. What sort of size would you recommend in the Moccasym, or is there any other shoes you would recommend. I think the issue with the Miura is my foot shape (Big toe and next two toes are all the same length). Thanks in advance, Stephen

A

The Miura VS is a very asymmetically shaped shoe which might explain why you are having difficulty. The Moccasym should be more comfortable however because it is a slipper, and because it will stretch, it is best to start with a very tight fit. Otherwise as the shoe stretches you will have no way of tightening it up which may result in a sloppy fit. I would recommend taking a look at the La Sportiva Katana. It is much more forgiving than the Miura VS but is still regarded as a technical shoe.

Great comfy shoe

this is my go to shoe in the gym, for most things, smearing, slabs, most overhangs its absolutely ideal for not cramming your toes into painful shoes. I would say they are NOT a beginner shoe because any beginner would be put off climbing by how small a shoe they would originally have to get to account for the stretching! i got 2 sizes down from my street shoe, which is ideal, would even go down annother half size next time for a more snug heel. super grippy and super comfy

Very comfortable pair of shoes for a beginner. My biggest regret was not picking these as my first pair of climbing shoes as I never have to take them off. The rubber is super sticky and so far I have experienced no issues with any wear on the shoes. I ordered a full size down (Size 12 UK) from my street shoe size (Size 13 UK) and aside from an initial bit of tightness when putting them on for the first time they were broken in after my first session.

Not the best when it gets really steep. However, everywhere else they are great. Just had a great Font trip and used nothing but a fresh pair of these. They stretch a fair bit, I size down 2 1/2 sizes for a really snug, but comfortable, fit.

These are so comfortable for the performance you get. I downsized one size and that was about perfect. They are good on edgy slabby ground and good indoor. Not so hot on overhangs but for the rest they are great. They do stretch a lot though.

I feel quite bad because I've bought a heck of a lot of stuff from banana fingers and never given any feedback. When enquiring about the sizing for these shoes I got a really quick reply from Tom which as it turns out is absolutely spot on. Nice tight fit without making my toes feel like they've had the circulation cut to them, hopefully as they stretch they'll be my comfy all day shoes. I wear a size 10 street shoe and got these in a 9 as suggested. Love them.
