The La Sportiva Katana Lace is, as the name suggests, the lace up version of the original Katana. Therefore you can expect them to work well through the varied disciplines of climbing through easy and hard grades, La Sportiva have even added some extra technical details into the shoe which enhance the performance to even greater levels.
The La Sportiva Katana Lace has the tried and tested P3 system which will ensure that your new shoes maintain the same downturned profile throughout their life. An innovative construction method places a lining between the rand and the leather upper, this means you will get the great breathing properties and precision of an unlined shoe with the minimal stretch of a lined shoe.
The incorporation of the laces means you can tailor the internal volume of the shoe more accurately to the shape of your feet creating an even greater fit and feel of precision. To cap off this already brilliant shoe is the Vibram XS Edge rubber which is great in most situations and excels on those smaller holds.

How I choose the correct size?
All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.
This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.

Great all rounder
I was looking for a good show to move on from my well used beginner shoe the boreal joker. The katana lace really fills that niche for me. More aggressive profile than beginner shoes that allow you to hook on overhanging routes and the rigid sole gives you loads of support and precision on smaller footholds. Would recommend!
Outstanding All-round Shoe
Brilliant climbing shoe for any climbing type. Plenty of heel support for hooks and enough downturn to be effective in tricky boulder problems and rooves. It is also a very comfortable fit and very easily worn all day on big trad climbs. I cannot recommend this enough to a multi-discipline climber who wants a shoe that can do it all.
Great so far
I tend to need lace-ups to avoid slipping on the heels. These are a really good shape for my feet (average width with narrow heels and mild morton's toe). Some extra room in the sides of the heel for me but better than any other I've tried so far. Went for a size UK4 (normal trainer size is UK5).
For size reference, I was previously wearing Fiveten pinks in a UK5 which stayed on well but had lots of room in sides of the heel and caused some pressure on my second toe.
Quality so far seems good but it's early days.

BF's sizing chart was accurate and the shoes feel great!
These shoes are comfortable right from the start and I found that I had massive confidence in them straight away. I am a size 10 and I got a size 9 but it was too tight on the top of my toes so I had to change to a size 9.5. Highly recommend them . The service from bananafingers was excellent and were very helpfull when I changed the shoes for a size bigger.
