The La Sportiva Testarossa is a high performance classic. It uses both natural and synthetic materials to provide a combination of comfort and technicality. The internal lining is only featured in the toe box and heel cup so that the leather can let your feet breath and offer comfort whilst the microfibre gives a precise and permanent fit where it matters. A P3 platform, 3D Hytrel midsole and Vibram XS Grip2 outsole combined means you will get support and high tension throughout the shoe (with little degradation over time) and the asymmetric lacing system allows for a tight and precise fit. The La Sportiva Testarossa is a great shoe for steep or technical sport climbing and bouldering.

Details:

• Updated heel cup for higher performance heel hooking
• Patented P3® retains downturned shape of the shoe
• Innovative Bi-Lateral stretch technology uses Lorica (doesn’t stretch) and Leather (does stretch) in a specific pattern to optimize fit and performance
• Patented figure 8 slingshot focuses power to your toes
• 3D Hytrel anatomical insert increases power and comfort in the toe box.

Specification:

• LAST: PD 85

How I choose the correct size?

All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.

Choose from the options below to find your size in the La Sportiva Testarossa
Climbing Shoe
or
Street Shoe

This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.

Now had these for a about 2 months, and have properly broken them in. They are very comfortable after being worn in, and the leather has stretched a modest amount, but has remained nicely snug in the toe area, and heel. The stretch has come around the top of the foot, and makes the shoe more comfortable.

Onto performance, they probably do not have the same all around performance and power that the Solutions have, however I find these perfect for harder long routes with precise footwork. The sensitive and precise nature of the shoes means that you can really latch onto holds.

The rubber is okay, and is showing minimal signs of wear.

The heel is actually quite nice for hooks despite its small stature, but gives a lot of feedback, and you can find small nooks on holds with it.

The laces are also really nice, and feature this really neat feature where each loops keeps the lace in place as you tighten it - although the laces are a little long.

Finally, they look really nice (if you care about that sort of thing). They are also very very asymmetrical, so bare that in mind.

Some cons of the shoe are that the tongue is very slender, and provides minimal comfort (unlike other Sportiva models such as the Katana Lace), however this shouldn't be too much of an issue because these are performance orientated shoes.

For reference and fit: I a medium sized heel, with very wide toes and foot at the front, and my second toe is slightly longer than my big toe. I am a size 9.5/10 UK in street shoe, and wear an 8 UK in these. I found the 8.5 had a lot of space in the heel. I perhaps could have got into 7.5UK - but didn't feel that the performance would actually have been improved by this, as the 8UK was snug all over.
