The La Sportiva Theory is an evolution of the species, its massively adaptable: its both super soft and sensitive while being powerful on small edges at the same time. It's a high-performance indoor climbing specialist.

La Sportiva has used Vibram® XS Grip2 for maximum friction; there is no midsole to make the shoe softer and more adaptable. They have even differentiated thickness at the toes for better sensitivity. The Theory uses D-Tech™ construction to wrap the sole sideways around the sides of the shoe for great No-Edge feel on the sides but maintaining the edge on the front of the shoe for full power on small holds. The toe has is covered in rubber but it thin and soft for better responsiveness in tooks and heel follows though with a reduced volume allows for maximum precision on heel hooks. It's designed to get the most rubber contact with the holds.

Technical Specifications

  • Upper: Microfiber and suede uppers with a tubular construction

  • Lining: none

  • Midsole: P3 System™

  • 3,5 mm Vibram® XS Grip2 with D-Tech™

How I choose the correct size?

All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.

Choose from the options below to find your size in the La Sportiva Theory
Climbing Shoe
or
Street Shoe

This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.

Best bouldering shoe I've ever used

Had quite a few different shoes over the years but this is by far the best and I clicked with this shoe straight out of the box, which is a first for me. Feels like the futura with the toe box of a solution. No break in time needed.
My street shoes are size 11 UK (46) and I've been climbing mostly in my genius size 10 (44 1/2) but as these are to be for bouldering only I went done to a 9.5 (44) and that seems to be perfect for me.
They are super soft and very sensitive so smears are a breeze. The edge on the toe makes precise foot placements easy. Great on over hangs but I was surprised how amazing they are on slab! They are so sticky and fill you with confidence.
If you like soft la sportiva shoes and want some for bouldering, get a pair!

So Good!!

Super easy to break in, the heel fits my low volume heel pretty well, and the toe is super precise. Can edge okay, but i wouldn't want to do it for a long time, but it still has plenty of power to pull with toes. I Sized up half a size from normal because its a synthetic shoe and wont stretch as much and they are very comfy, but also fit like a glove.
