Spirit VCR IZ

P933Z1980
(54)
$86.89
$115.85

Subtley improved and enhanced internally, the Red Chili Spirit VCR has also been given a stylish external makeover. Technically, it keeps a tight, focused toe and foot hugging fit. The triple VCR strapping has been modified for a more secure fit. The Spirit VCR has a firm midsole, giving it the power and support for bouldering and a wide variety of routes. Other modifications include a new compact toe shape, which allows more precise footwork and a re-worked heel which is superb for hooking on lime grit or indoors.

Despite all the tweaking that Red Chili have been up to, the popular Impact Zone heel system remains in place. This innovative feature ensures that your heel is cushioned whether you are flaking off a boulder problem or just walking off the crag.  Essentially this is achieved by just a hidden layer of foam, however it has proved a popular way to increase comfort without sacrificing performance.

The Red Chili Spirit VCR is designed as an intermediate to advanced all-rounder but with the subtle extra support it provides an even more ‘user-friendly’ base for long days out at the crag, bouldering or wandering round at the wall.

    * Impact Zone – Shock Absorb System heel for total comfort.
    * Classic Spirit semi-asymetric last for performance.
    * New shape heel and slingshot.
    * Super sticky new 4.2mm Red Chili ‘F1’ rubber.
    * Graduated midsole for perfect flex and feel
    * Smaller sizes especially tuned for the smaller foot.
    * Low profile toe-box fits cracks well.
    * Wide lacing adapts to most foot shapes.
    * Distinctive Red / Silver colour
    * Twin pull on tabs.

How I choose the correct size?

All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.

Choose from the options below to find your size in the Red Chili Spirit VCR IZ
Climbing Shoe
or
Street Shoe

This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.

Excellent service and very prompt delivery. I'd had an exact same pair previously and was very happy with their performance, so it was an easy choice. The toes had gone, so they just needed replacing. In fact this new pair are even more comfortable than the last.

OK .. yes your thinking why a bad review for one of the best selling climbing shoes on the market. Well.. I have been buying these for the last 10 years or so. Excellent fit. comfortable good all round shoe. BUT the last pair I have just bought have changed. Same markings, same size but the toe area seems larger and my toes are sloppy in them. Is this a one off or has anyone else noticed this ?

What's to say, they have been around a long time and proved themselves to be a good all rounder shoe. I have used these for many years. I go for comfort not pain and these are a good fitting comfortable shoe for me and for my lowish grade of climbing. Not found the rubber the best for smearing but they suit my requirements.

Love my red chilis; this is my 3rd pair; they fit beautifully, have the right combination of grip and support I can wear them for long multipitch routes yet they are great on technical stuff too, pretty hardwearing too.

Having Morton's toe (2nd toe is longer than big toe) it's nearly impossible to find a high performance shoe which doesn't kill your feet. The asymmetric shape makes it easy for the 2nd toe to find room and the toe box is low but very comfortable because of the suede patch on the inside. Really comfortable shoe that stands well on dime edges and smears well on slabs. Only downside is that the rubber isn't as sticky as something with a Vibram XS Grip2 sole. Tested this shoe side by side with a pair of La Sportiva Cobra's and they had way more grip from that get go. Having said that, it's not as if you're sliding with these shoes, they hold their own well.

I normally wear a La Sportiva Miura VS which is sized 44.5 (feels same as this shoe). My street shoe size is 44.5 but I had to go down to 42.5 on these. Not at all uncomfortable or too tight, think their sizing is just off compared to other brands(tried 2 different pairs). Could walk in these shoes all day, very comfy yet perform so well. Not so good for pockets and overhanging stuff and not sure how long the velcro would survive with toe-hooking. Well worth their price, all other shoes feel like I have to cut my toes off.
