The Scarpa Instinct VS combines the features of the Instinct Slipper and Instinct Lace to form an incredibly versatile and technical shoe.

Built around the same aggressive last as the rest of the Instinct family to provide high levels of sensitivity and accurate foot placements. The Instinct VS sits somewhere between the slipper and lace-up in terms of stiffness making for a great all round performer.

The upper has been made from Lorica, this means you can expect great flexibility and durability but also a shoe which will hold its shape better than leather equivalents. The use of Vibram XS Edge 2 rubber means that the VS will stay put on the smallest of edges but will also last for a decent amount of time. Scarpas Bi-Tension technology has also been implemented to connect the heel to the toe in order to keep power focused towards your toes and also to maintain performance over the life of the shoe.

Lastly, the Instinct VS unsurprisingly feature a velcro strap in order to keep your foot in the shoe when heel hooking.

Material: Synthetic Micro Suede

How I choose the correct size?

All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.

Choose from the options below to find your size in the Scarpa Instinct VS
Climbing Shoe
or
Street Shoe

This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.

Great at everything shoe with added excellent customer service

These are really good all round climbing shoes. I have 3 pairs of these is 3 different sizes. My street shoe size is 9.5. I wear the instincts in:

Size 9 for trad climbing
Size 8.5 for harder trad and sport climbing
Size 8 for harder sport and aggressive heel hook while bouldering

These are really good once they are broken in and are sensitive enough for me, I weight around 72kg and they are stiff enough for edges but smear fine once broken in. They're equally good on gritstone, limestone, granite, rhyolite and slate.

They have a wide forefoot and a medium to narrow heel. The quality is excellent from Scarpa.

The advice and customer service from banana fingers is too level. These arrived in 2 days and were quickly dispatched so thank you banana fingers.

Great shoes, pretty comfortable given how downturned they are.

I bought this pair of shoes like three months ago in a size 8 (my usual size is 9). They felt really tight at the beginning so I had to alternate them with my old shoes, but now that I have broken them in they feel great! They are comfortable and fastens you foot really well so I can wear them for most of the session without problem.
The soles have an excellent grip and the sensitivity it's good. The shape of the shoes is quite aggressive and so you can have difficulties for smearing on certain surfaces (just because you can't put the shoes flat, on a wall for example), they are great for edging and have a really good performance for hooking (both heel and toe)

Lovely technical shoes if you have slightly wider feet (the equivalent La Sportiva Solutions were too pinched for me). Good rubber on the heel and toe. Will buy again.

An absolutely amazing shoe, abit tough at the start but soon stretches to feet, the heal is a brilliant fit would definitely recommend for first aggressive shoe
