How I choose the correct size?
All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.
Choose from the options below to find your size in the Scarpa Veloce Women's
Climbing Shoe
OR
Street Shoe
This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.
The Veloce is a beginner climbing shoe like no other, instead of being stiff and flat it is soft and slightly downturned. It has been designed for indoor climbing because that is where most people start to climb (not to say you can't use the Veloce outside, it is just better suited to climbing inside). It is a very precise shoe that is great at standing on slippery foot holds, smearing and edgeing.
Scarpa have made a new last called FKJ which sits your heal right at the back of the shoe with your toes still at the tip of the shoe. This means there is not loads of pressure at the ends of the toes and more importantly on the knuckles. This is also helped by the M50 rubber on the top of the shoe which is soft and wont put unessiccary pressure on your toes.
The Veloce has a minimal midsole making it soft and great for climbing on steep ground, unlike other beginner climbing shoes, having a soft midsole also makes the shoe more comfortable. It has a DTS tension system which gives the shoe flexible support allowing you to smear and edge with ease.
The Veloce has a new PAF heel that puts less pressure on your heel and pushes your toes towards the tip of the shoe so your toes are as close to the end of the shoe as possible, giving you sensitivity and precision. The PAF heal has medium tension and will perform amazingly on tenuous heel hooks.
The upper is fully synthetic making it very comfortable and also has minimal stretch so you don't have to worry about your shoes bagging out. The Veloce is one of the only beginner climbing shoes that is seamless at the big toe, (like Scarpas high-performance shoes) this provides a better fitting shoe that is again more comfortable.
The sole is made from S72 rubber which is the softest rubber that Scarpa does which makes the Veloce amazing at smearing and standing on slippery footholds. But don't worry even though the S72 rubber is soft it is 4mm thick which will give the Veloce a good level of durability.
So, in summary, the Veloce is an amazing shoe for beginner climbers who want something different than a flat stiff climbing shoe, or for more advanced climbers that want a shoe they can wear for longer. It will perform well on steep ground, at smearing and edging, giving you a great all-round indoor climbing shoe.
