Iati

The Tenaya Iati is a high end shoe which is fairly aggressive. It utilises both leather and synthetic materials to gain the advantages offered by both, this means almost no stretch where you dont want it but a bit of give where in the areas where comfort is key and some stretch will not affect performance. The result is a superbly comfy shoe for how technical it is.
The Iati is really sensitive for a shoe which is mid-stiffness so they make for an awesome all round climbing shoe which can perform on long routes or small boulders. With the use of Vibram XS Grip2 rubber on the outsole you can also be guaranteed a secure placement. Your foot is held securely in place within the shoe thanks to the patented Draxtor lacing system and SXRDynamics which connects fastening system to the sole and structure of the shoe for a more solid closure around the foot.

How I choose the correct size?

All climbing shoe models fit differently. We put together our 'shoeculator' to help you find the right size in a new model, compared to your old climbing shoes or street shoes.

Choose from the options below to find your size in the Tenaya Iati
Climbing Shoe
or
Street Shoe

This sizing advice is based on two pairs of brand new shoes. Leather shoes tend to stretch more than synthetic shoes. When switching from synthetic to leather you may want to select a smaller size.

Customer questions

Q

Quick sizing question. I'm a UK size 9, and currently have a pair of la sportiva mythos in size 7. What size would you recommend for the Iati? Thanks!

A

The Mythos is not a shoe that we stock, however based on average La Sportiva sizing I would suggest that you might want to try a 7.5 in the Iati.

There is a reason Alex Megos wears them.

Comfortable, sensitive, supportive. Best closure system on the market,
Edging, smearing, heel hooks, toe scums. These shoes do it all.
Only shame is that you'll wear them so much you'll be buying new pairs yearly.

nice shoes but..

Good shoes
However, there was an issue where the rubber on the heel was torn during bouldering.
It is being used with a strong adhesive.

Super comfortable, good performance

Really like this shoe. Very comfortable, however still snug and perform well on a lot of rock and styles. Flexible enough to smear on slabs, but powerful for most edges too. Because of the soft upper with not much rubber, you can probably afford to size down half a size if you like a tighter fit.

Amazing shoes!

These are my second pair of shoes, my first pair being the Oasi but for the Oasi I had it a little bit loose for my size. So when I downsized by an entire size on the Iati, I was expecting it to hurt a lot. The shoes molded to my feet in a matter of three to four sessions and is now helping me send a lot of my projects! Definitely a shoe worth investing in. It's increased stiffness over the Oasi also makes it a very good shoe for slabs, but it's not stiff to the point where it hinders performance on overhangs.

Iati pure comfort

I'm new to climbing but wanted a decent pair of shoes that would help me progress after using the Evolv Defy shoe. Initially I'd opted for Ocun Rebel in size 8 (I'm a street size 7) but the Ocun were absolutely toe-breaking.
After speaking to Joe @ BananaFingers (who, I must say, gave both great advise & took a lot of time discussing different possibilities) he suggested the Tenaya Iati in size 7.5
I've only used them a few times but they are sooo comfortable, my toes are snug in the toe-box & their stiffness gives me that extra confidence on the smaller footholds. Thanks Joe!!
