The Bluebird features a hot forged, stainless-steel, aggressive pick designed for penetration and grip in hard ice that performs well on steep couloirs, easy mixed ground and complicated ridges in the French Alps, a good sized adze for cutting steps and digging snow holes, a curved aircraft-grade anodized, sandblasted aluminum shaft increases clearance when climbing over bergschrunds, and a tough, sharp spike is optimized for downhill travel and essential for self-belaying and holding slips so they don't become a fall. The head is comfortable to hold with the pick facing forward and features a special surface treatment to prevent rust, making is robust when used for multiple difficult anchors. Both the head and spike feature a large eyelet that can easily accommodate a carabiner.
