Edelrid Tommy Caldwell Pro Dry DuoTec 9.6mm
The Edelrid Tommy Caldwell Pro Dry DuoTec 9.6mm is a rope which has been made with Tommy at the forefront of the design process. It has a 9.6mm diameter which strikes a great balance between durabiity and weight, it also features a high sheath proportion which further increases durability and makes this a great choice for working routes. The Pro Dry treatment exceeds the UIAA dry standard and does a great job of blocking out water and dirt, in turn this reduces wear of both the rope and your hardwear and increases life span. This model also features DuoTec technology which essentially means that the pattern changes at the half way point and is easily identifiable whilst belaying.
Utilising a 3D lapcoil system the Edelrid Tommy Caldwell rope can be pulled straight from the packaging without creating kinks/twists and eliminiating the need for the usual uncoiling procedure.

Pro Dry - Firstly, the individual core strands are impregnated with water repellent solution. Once the core and sheath strands have been braided together the finished rope is treated again. In a final stage, the impregnation is thermally fixed. The result is a rope that is durably water repellent and dirt resistant, particularly fast drying and that will not freeze easily in colder temperatures. Pro Dry ropes provide maximum performance. This new finishing treatment ensures that the rope can absorb a maximum of 1 to 2% of their weight in water (compared to 50% for untreated ropes).
Thermo Shield - The Thermo Shield treatment has been in use at EDELRID for more than 20 years. Thermo Shield is a thermal stabilizing process for the rope that gives it the famous EDELRID handling characteristics and feel. The rope undergoes a heat treatment cure to stabilize and harmonize the individual yarns. This treatment cannot be washed out and ensures a supple rope throughout its working life
